About Us
Our mission
Our mission is to save dogs from high-kill shelters where they would otherwise be euthanized. The rescued dogs are fully vetted and spayed or neutered, then taken to a foster home where they are treated like family. Fostering allows our team time to get to know the dog’s personality and temperament so we can match the dog with the right family. We then get to know the potential adoptive family to make sure it will be a good fit for all. The dogs have been through enough and we do not want to see dogs bounced back and forth. We also ask that our adopters be willing to work with their new pet to see it through, as adjustment to their new life may take some time and understanding.
Dogingham Palace Rescue is a small ALL VOLUNTEER non-profit rescue in the Nashville, TN area. Our rescue formed because there is always a need to save dogs from euthanasia in high-kill shelters. With the pet population as it is right now, it seems like a losing battle. We save as many as we can and only wish we could save more. It is heartbreaking to not be able to rescue them all, but it is extremely difficult with the numbers we face.
Our rescue pulls dogs mostly from high-kill shelters (Nashville, surrounding areas and other states) and if we have room, we sometimes help the public who want to surrender dogs. We save dogs that we know have a likelihood of a second chance in life. There are so many dogs in shelters, and just not enough homes for them all. Dogs that end up at shelters are there for many reasons and sometimes we never know the real reason why. Our hearts always hurt most for the abused dogs or strays with no families to love them. It is also heartbreaking when owner surrender dogs have no clue why or how they ended up at a shelter. Sometimes they are the first to be euthanized.
Every dog we rescue is fostered in our own personal homes and not in a shelter until we can find them a wonderful new forever home. This helps us get to know the dog better so we can find them the right home. We hope to one day have a facility so we can save more dogs and work on training dogs with behavioral problems.

RESCUE WORDS OF WISDOM
-
Adopt. Don't Shop.
"A dog need not be a purebreed to be pure of heart."
- Author Unknown -
Rescue animals have great spirit.
"Rescue animals aren't broken... they've simply experienced more life than other animals. If they were human, we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write; the ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Don't pity them. Do something. Help to RESCUE. DONATE. VOLUNTEER. FOSTER. ADOPT. And be proud to have their greatness by your side."

Change their world for the better.
“Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”
- Karen Davison -
Be the person your dog thinks you are.
“It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.”

Adoption Process & Fees
How our adoption process works
So you’re thinking about adopting a dog? Having a dog companion is an extremely rewarding and fun endeavor! Dogs are called “man’s best friend” for a reason! However, it is a serious commitment as dogs can live up to 20 years and you must be able to provide them a stable, safe and loving home including proper health care for the duration of their life. If you aren’t sure about making a long term commitment, perhaps consider fostering. Please do your homework before beginning the adoption process. Our adoption fees are from $250-$350, depending on the age, medical costs, and/or status of the dog.
- Choose your companion: Once you're sure you are ready and willing to adopt a dog, the first step is to view our available pets online. Read carefully through each dog’s description to see which dog will be a good fit. Once you have chosen a dog, the next step is filling out the adoption application.
- Fill out the adoption application: Please download and complete the adoption application in the Microsoft Word program and save it as a Word document. Then email it to us for review.
- Application review: We will review your application and determine if you seem to be a good fit for the dog you have chosen. We will then go through your references (including but not limited to vet references and rental company references) and call you for a phone interview. If all goes well the next step is a home visit.
- Home visit: We will conduct a home visit to make sure your home is a safe and proper environment for a pet. If all goes well the next step is to finalize the adoption.
- Adoption Finalized: To finalize the adoption, you will pay the one time non-refundable adoption fee of $250-$350 (depends on age, medical costs and/or status of the dog) and we will both sign off on the paperwork.
- Enjoy life with your new companion!
