Jo Jo was 1 of 4 dogs we saved from a high kill animal shelter. There were several dogs taken from a woman's property where deputies found 37 bags of dog remains and removed 39 live dogs from a farm where she claimed to train service dogs for disabled veterans and children. The story of what happened to all these dogs was on the news and all over Facebook. We were heartbroken when we heard the story and wanted to help.

There are still charges against the woman and her husband for what they have done to all the dogs that have lived pitifully and died at their hands. We hope that justice will be served to them by the end of this year, 2014. When we got poor Jo Jo she was matted, very thin and smelled terribly. She was so happy to have fresh water and food when we got her. We gave her a wonderful makeover that allowed her inner beauty to show on the outside. She fit right in at her foster home and was a very sweet loving dog.

Kathy, a lady from Connecticut, contacted us about Jo Jo. Her family already had 2 shelties and they fell in love with Jo Jo when they saw her photo and story online. They wanted another dog that was going to be their daughter’s snuggle bug at night, which was perfect for Jo Jo. We arranged transport for Jo Jo to get to Kathy. Her husband and daughter were on a weekend trip they could not get out of to come to the meeting. Kathy said it was so emotional, with the foster mum saying goodbye to Jo Jo and Kathy happy to meet her new furry family member for the first time.

Jo Jo came from an awful situation to the most loving home she could ask for. This is one fairy tail happy ending for all. The month that Jo Jo, now June, was saved and adopted was also when Kathy's mum's birthday was and Jo from the rescue's birthday. (Jo saved her on her birthday, her present to herself to save a dog’s life).

Kathy texted us to let us know how wonderful and sweet Jo Jo is and how she fit right into their household. She could not wait for her daughter and husband to get home and meet her. When Alexa got home with her dad an instant bond was formed between her and Jo Jo which we could see from the pictures. These are two lucky gals to have each other!

UPDATE:
"How our little June is doing... She is absolutely wonderful! The minute she came off the transport (and even before with the anticipation) I was very emotional. It is really a incredible joy if you can help out these wonderful animals that need homes. She is such a sweet dog and loves everyone she meets and is with. Our other 2 dogs have adjusted fine with having June with us. She sleeps with our daughter every night with not one problem. She is so happy and plays with her toys and loves going for walks and riding in the car. Every day all 3 dogs walk to the bus stop with us- it’s a great sight. June is very smart and lovable. She has also learned quickly the routine and additional commands- of course with the help of following our other two dogs. It has been a fantastic experience for us and she has brought so much joy in our lives. We can’t imagine our lives withouther! I would never hesitate to adopt a rescue dog. All these animals want is to be loved and kindness. Thank you for your rescue efforts, fostering and honesty in this whole process."

We saved Hope and another dog in January 2014 from a terrible hoarding situation. There were several dogs left out in the elements to fight over what little the owner gave them. This was during the freezing cold polar vortex and we knew they would not make it much longer without intervention.

Poor Hope was also VERY pregnant when we got her. We took her to the vet immediately and found out that she had Ehrlichia, a tick disease. She had to be treated for it, and we were not sure if it would harm the babies. But without mum there would be no babies, so we had to think about Hope and get her well.

On February 11, 2014 Hope gave birth to 13 puppies. This poor little girl was only 30 lbs to be having so many babies! She was such a wonderful mum and we helped her with the feeding. Sadly 4 of the puppies did not make it, they were a lot smaller than the others and not as developed. The other 9 survived and all went to their new homes, which left Hope waiting for her forever home.

Finally we got an email from a gentleman that was interested in a calm loving dog for him and his mother. This sounded perfect for Hope, as she would have someone home to spoil her all day. When Donna and Rick met Hope, they loved how sweet and calm she was and not bothered by their cat. We could not have asked for a better home for sweet Hope, now known as Bella. Hope will always be one of our favourites with everything she went through. She was such a trooper!

“Rick and Donna here, Bella's dad and grandma. Just wanted to give you an update as to how our girl is doing. She has fit in extremely well with the household and family. The neighborhood loves her too. She used to be afraid of feet when she first came, but not so anymore. She is very loving toward people and other animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, or deer. Amelia, Rick's granddaughter, was afraid of her when she first met her but after only a couple of weeks; Bella has become her bosom buddy. She asks her mom and dad if she can come to see Bella rather than us now. We take nice long walks in the early morning before the sun comes up so that she has explored every inch of the 88 acres here at the complex (of course she is on her leash). We have found a good park that she appears to enjoy. Even her vet says that she is a super sweet girl and that he wants us to pick his next family dog for him. Thank you so much for bringing her to us!”

Maddie came to us from Lebanon Animal Control where they received a frantic call about a little dog drowning in some floodwater back in August 2013. We had received a torrential rain in less than an hour and the floodwater caught this little dog in a fenced corner.

Stephanie and Josh arrived just in time to pluck the exhausted baby out of the water. She was in need of some TLC quickly, so they called us and we went immediatly to get her. After 3 baths to remove the flood gook to no avail, she was shaved down and became the cute Shih Tzu she is today. She is now living the life with her new family. Maddie is now known as Bridget.

UPDATE:
“Bridget is happy, well-adjusted and SPOILED. She knows what she wants and usually gets her way. She has six brothers and two sisters. They love to cuddle with each other. Bridget is very well behaved, but a bit head strong and we love her just the way she is. She was cute when we adopted her, but now she is beautiful.”

Patrick was about to go through the doors of a local high kill shelter, until a lady there said she would take him and find him a rescue, as this is not a place to leave a puppy. Then we got the call asking if we could take this little puppy on. After seeing his pictures and how sweet this little fellow was, how could we say no? Patrick was so much fun and had a little smirk that was adorable.

After putting him on Petfinder, we got an email from a young couple that had recently lost their older dog to cancer and wanted to open their hearts to another dog. They said they had fallen in love with this cutie immediately upon seeing his photo. Then, the day before they were going to meet him and take him, Patrick came down with parvo. His foster mum rushed him to the vet and said for them to do whatever he needed. He was caught very early, but you never really know with parvo.

The phone call we had to make to Michelle was one of the hardest we have had to do. After losing her companion of 13 years, telling her that the new dog she has fallen in love with may not make it either was very hard to digest. We checked on Patrick everyday at the vet and would then call Michelle and her husband Tracy to update them.

Patrick was at the vet for about 5 days and was then allowed to go home once he started eating again. His foster mum kept him for a few more weeks while he was shedding the parvo virus. Finally the day came when he got to meet mum and dad, and the rest is history. Patrick, now Astro, is loved and adored and goes everywhere with mum and dad.

UPDATE:
"Astro is doing wonderfully, he is our best companion and furkid! Believe me when I say this little guy is spoiled rotten! His favorite thing in the world is food, second would be the dog park. Astro now has a sister, Nova, who is also a Dogingham Palace Rescue success story! We couldn't imagine life without these two!"

Nova had been living in a field out in Coffee County for several weeks. A man that lived nearby kept seeing her little head pop up out of the grass and at first he thought she might be a groundhog. Soon he realized that it was a dog, and began trying to earn her trust to catch her. He thought if he could get her to the pound she'd hopefully get adopted.

Finally he caught her and took her to Coffee County Animal Control where she walked around the kennel on her hind legs and captured the hearts of rescuers. Jo was called about her and she swooped in quickly to save her. Poor little Nova was severely underweight and had gotten into some kind of glue that had to be shaved off of her muzzle. She vetted her and started the process of finding her a home.

Jo remembered that the couple who had adopted Astro were looking for a companion for him. She called them and arranged a meetup. Astro and Nova ended up getting along, and she went home with her new family. She had a hard time adjusting to home life at first as she had been mostly feral. But her family stuck it out knowing she was worth it, and now she is a happy healthy house dog!

UPDATE:
"Astro and Nova are the best dogs anyone could ask for! Astro thinks he's the boss, and Nova is definitely the class clown. She is silly and always doing things that make us laugh. She is a quirky wild child that is just as sweet as she can be, and we cannot imagine life without these two!"

Roenick was rescued from Davidson County Metro Animal Control several years ago. He had been going nuts in the runs, and Jo wanted to get him out of there and into a home. Roenick didn't acclimate well to family life, as he was one of those dogs that needs a job to flourish. Richie and Leah from Breakaway Siberians contacted Jo about Roenick, as they have Siberian Huskies and sled race. It ended up being a perfect fit and Roenick is doing wonderfully!
